[INTRODUCTION]
This is a preview of the main protagonist known as MASTER CHIEF in the well know first person shoot-them game HALO for the X-BOX gaming console. The official sample was provided by ToyVenue, and colors, quality and weapons of the eventually release product might differ. As Halo gamers know, Master Chief is this guy who goes around in the game killing off aliens that have taken over structures and to save the whole world from imminet alien infestations. This was the game that took the X-BOX into the home gaming genre, and we're pleased to provide our members with a worldwide first looks on this figure.
[SCULPTING/COLORS]

On first looks, this figure reminds me of a 12" version of a Cobra Viper because of its highly reflective yellow Chromed visor. Nevertheless he's much different. Master Chief has a exo-suit that is hued in black and green and a slight touch of brown. This exo-suit supposedly enhances the Halo figures fighting prowress, and protect the human inside from overly being injured by enemy fire. One thing I noticed was that the green paint they used was sprinkled with golden dust, so that made the figure a bit unique.
The figure has a lot of details especially on exo-suit, including circuitry to give the mechanical feel. The designers also included some battle damage effect, which made the figure look like a experienced fighting machine who has gone through some mean battles, and survived to tell the tales.
Quality plastic and rubber materials were used on this figure. Overall Master Chief is not too stiff, neither is it too soft and rubbery that the parts could bend and fall apart easily.
[ARTICULATION]
From the pictures you’d notice that we have been able to put Master Chief through many poses, and all this was possible because of a combination of different kinds of sockets and joints. This figure has a arsenal of articulation. The neck, to the hands (shoulder/ elbow), the waist, the hip, the knees and even the ankles all provided interesting posing possibilities. All in all, I believe there are some 18 points of articulation.
The articulation supoprts the nice sculpting of the figure, and it's a pleasant surprise to see the toy-makers creating a toy that combines both details and poseability. From my past experience, figures with good accurate sculpting commonly ended with little or no articulation (see McFarlane), or vice versa (see Marvel Legends), but this Halo figure has a little bit of both.

[ACCESSORIES]

Because this is a preview, the weapons that you see from the pictures might not be the ones that the released figures would have. We were given three weapons; all of which had good detail. The plastics used were stiffer compared to the figure but it fitted well in the hands of the Halo figure. The smaller alien gun does look a little bit too small for the figure's hands though.

[CONCLUSION]
A summary of the pros and cons of the figure:
Pros:
1. Detailed sculpting
2. Nice color blend
3. Good articulation
4. Quality plastics/ rubber used in manufacturing.
Cons:
1. Loose joints - one of the hand joints became loose, it could be due to the fact that the figure on preview is a non-finished article.
2. The long laser rifle is fragile and tends to break.
Overall, this is one figure you would not want to miss. It falls into those "must-get" category, especially if you're a Halo fan. Even for non-gamers like myself, the figure looks like a good inclusion to my collection. A.
