SGCollect was started back in September 2002 primarily as a forum to bring the toy community in Singapore together. Back then it was known as the Singapore Collectibles Forum (SCF). After one year, SCF grew out of its roots and was revamped as SGCollect (SGC) to identify with the community better and also to expand and provide other related services and information to serve the toy community better.
SGCollect was started by five like-minded collectors with web monikers - ipporek, slaxed, super_convoy, blueben, and Prodimus in March 2003. Since it's humble beginnings, SGCollect has grown to be a community of about five thousand community members and enjoy tens of millions of page views. Even with this immense growth, it's primary objective has not changed - "To be the Premier Nexus for Collectors".
SGCollect's primary aim is to be a catalyst to build up the toy scene in Singapore regionally, whether through conventions, gatherings, or the like. We're also in contact with various local toy designers and manufacturers with the purpose of bringing the community up to speed and to play a part in building the local expertise with respect to the toy and related industries - from media, manufacturing - the whole value chain. We would continue to endeavour to value-add to the community within the limited resources that we have at this moment, and hope that the community of collectors and the various toy designers would play a part in building the community strong so that we can influence the global market. Regards, Prodimus on behalf of the SGCollect Committee
