The game is out in Funan..

But I am also not a FPS fan.. Used to play Wolfenstein 3D and Doom 1,2 and Quake etc.. But once the graphics started to get too realistic I got dizzy =x

When you look at the total package, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is hands-down one of the best first-person shooters out there, and a truly amazing offering across any system. With that being said, our score comes with a disclaimer. For those planning to check out everything Modern Warefare 2 has to offer – online competition, full co-op Spec Ops mode, as well as the campaign – you’re looking at a no-brainer purchase. For the strictly single player crowd, however, Modern Warfare 2 is surprisingly short, and doesn’t live up to the standard set by previous Call of Duty games. The campaign can be completed in as little as four and a half hours, and the missions make better scenarios and moment-to-moment adrenaline rushes than they do a cohesive, well-told story. If you’re going solo, you’ve officially been warned. Look at the complete Modern Warfare 2 experience though, and there’s no denying its rightful place at the top.

8.5 Presentation
The graphical presentation is great, but campaign’s storytelling needs work. Single player is short, and doesn’t entirely live up to the Call of Duty standard.

10 Graphics
What was already an impressive graphical engine has only improved over the last two years. More effects, grander environments, and a truly spectacular overall visual offering.

10 Sound
Along with graphical design, Modern Warfare 2’s audio is upped substantially. Authentic weapon sounds and more in-game chatter mix with a beautiful adaptive score by Hans Zimmer.

9.0 Gameplay
There’s no single AC-130 “wow” moment in single player, but it’s fun throughout. Special Ops mode and multiplayer are must-play, and completely make the package.

10 Lasting Appeal
While campaign is short, Spec Ops mode is an awesome addition to the package. Multiplayer is stronger than ever, and truly limitless in replay value.

9.5

No surprise, people in the US are already complaining about the 10USD price hike of the game.. haha.. but maybe its worth it?

havent got chance to purchase it yet but the price is certainly deterring me from buying it right now.
Akira Fudo
yup its kind of expensive to me too... gonna wait for 2nd hand copy...
newbie
They should have made the single campaign long.

There are a lot of hardcore MW online players, so newbies really lose out a lot.

I just completed the campaign mode on the pc, a little too short but it was fantastic
Kyori
Ya.. just as short as MW1(not worth whatever prce hike in this case). I guess it is more for it's MP....
sianshao
Sad to say.. I have yet to touch the SP part since I bought it.. spent most of time playing MP instead which I feel is where the main draw of the game is.. haha..

but I saw my bro played the SP and my fav segment has to be the 'No Russian' mission.. hehehehe drool.gif
|oNg|3oW
yea I agree, the multiplayer is what made me buy the game. Nothing beats going online with a bunch of friends
Kyori
Does anyone find that the "blood splash on face" when you got hit, is very irritating? It made you can't see where to go take cover.

Its the same effect as in Halo: ODST.. very very irritating.. den it takes quite some time for it to subside some more.. by the time already angel.gif
|oNg|3oW
lol I guess Infinity Ward did put in some effort to make it more realistic
Kyori
Hmm.. don't think it is realistic. When you get shot, your own blood won't splash on your own face... unless your left arm get shot(if right-hander) while holding the rifle... still that rarely happens.
|oNg|3oW
actually if you think of it, the blood isnt splattered on your face, its splattered on your eyes tongue.gif

It has to be on your face that causes it to enter your eyes dude.

Just completed the game.... Wow!!! Excellent and the story mode is much more bigger and ambitious than the previous Modern Warfare.... Now getting started with the MP mode.... Must start from scratch to unlock everything all over again..hahahaha

Oh my god I found this freaking funny video on youtube about MW2 campers > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jni_J5zb884
Seriously the guy in that video reminds me of John Cena.

just finished the game also. Awesome storyline.

But Shepard backstabbing the team just for what happened 5 yrs ago???
People get killed in wars mahhhh.

And to get more credit to go after makarov duh.gif a bit lame lehhh.

In the end, makarov still alive for MW3 laugh.gif
Kyori
ya, i find the betrayal part very lame...
but such things might or already happen in real life. For example, posing as terrorists to wreck havoc on own citizens, just to stir up the citizens to support you in the war etc.

Totally agreed.

10 days late, but I've finally gotten around to it. My GotM is...I haven't bothered to do a mini-review for this yet, but I'll cover some basics briefly:-

Pros

* Large selection of weaponry with lots of additional attachments.
* The storyline itself was very competent, and felt somewhat akin to an episode of 24.
* Improved graphics and some rather lovely new death animations.
* The online multiplayer is absolutely terrific (pretty much an extention of CoD4:MW but that's precisely what I was expecting) and has some great new maps.
* Spec Ops is totally brilliant. I was hoping that I'd eventually get to play that Ghillie sniper mission in co-op.
* Gatling guns everywhere. Mounted on vehicles, low walls, Apache helicopter, AC-130 gunship, actual automated turrets.
* The new 3rd person viewpoint for some of the game-types is surprisingly solid.
* Infinity Ward obviously took inspiration for the first 2 missions from 7-part TV series Generation Kill. They did a superb job.
* You can now equip suppressors on pretty much every weapon online.
* The soundtrack was terrific.
* The mission "No Russian" was pretty shocking first time around.

Cons

* It doesn't feel as 'brutal' compared to World at War due to the lack of dismemberment caused by gunfire and explosions.
* The single player missions aren't nearly as consistently superb compared to CoD4:MW. In this, there are far too many missions that just blend into each other due to being endless shootouts (which can start to grate). The lack of on-rails vehicle missions is also hugely disappointing.
* It gets a little too political for my liking.
* This mysterious Ghost character. Either Gaz recieved horrific facial scars from that Desert Eagle shot to the face and survived or it's his twin brother.
* The ending was strangely abrupt.
* Why isn't there normal Team Tactical online? That was my favourite mode in CoD4:MW.
* Whilst the maps are good, they're not as enjoyable as the prequel.
* Where has the MP5 gone? MP5k isn't half as good.

Overall: 9/10

Whilst not being consistently brilliant in all areas like CoD4:MW, the new additions and the online multiplayer still make this an excellent game and one extremely recommended (although who needs a recommendation? Everyone has heard of it!).
Kyori
the missions are mostly more or less in the same formula as the 1st game.... sniper, sneak, chase etc...
patience
