Just got this today.

WHAT A BLAST! Best shooter for me this year liao!

Just played for six hours+ straight. First off, did multiplayer Survive the Hordes. I was home late and joined my friends (five-player mode) from Round 31. There's an achievement for surviving 50 rounds, so I stayed on with them till Round 50. It got really tough as the Hordes became more and more powerful, and dealt more and more damages. I'm glad we made it.

Next off, I did some multiplayer training. Basically, that takes you through an AI-controlled multiplayer tour of the game's major online game modes.

Then, I began my single-player campaign. Before I could even complete an act, my friend called liao. so we started from scratch and co-op all the way till Chapter 2+. In the end, I was simply too tired and had to call it a day.

Still, it looks like this game will be the order of the day for me liao. Very, very awesome shooter.

The game has a rather demanding difficulty. We were playing on casual difficulty and we were whacked left right centre by the Hordes Survival thing. The single-player is ok so far, and I find the A.I. to be ok. So far I'm in a team of three (but only two can be controlled by human). Apart from Marcus and Dom, the third guy is a rookie. I didn't play the first game, but my friend told me the rookie is the brother of a member of the Delta Squad from the previous game, who died. The A.I. is quite smart in a sense that it reacts to your actions. If I attack one side, he'll automatically flank the other (most of the times). If I'm down, it actually runs towards me to revive me quickly. I'm not sure whether it'll hold up towards the later stages, but I'm on 2nd act (game has five act) now and it's still ok.

Will continue the fight today. Since Liverpool's game is only on at 1:30am, I intend to blast all the way till then later! laugh.gif

Just did the Hordes Survival thing again today to help some friends get the achievements. I'm Horde expert liao. laugh.gif

There are 50 waves of enemies. Each 10 waves work as a cycle. The difficulty rises as you approach the end of each cycle. That is, wave 1, 11, 21, 31 and 41 are usually easier than wave 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50. After each cycle, the difficulty increases as the Hordes will increase in damage dealth and resistance.

Maximum five players, so it's best to tag team (2 by 3) and do it on the "Day 1" map. Both teams take the two staircases on opposite ends. The team with 3 players should get one man to run around checking the spawn points of the enemies. One of the staircases has a sniper, so one player must always equip it for quick kills. Another staircase has the Mortar (mass destruction!), so one player should always equip it.

Even when a player is killed, he's useful to the fight since he'll be sent to a camera view on the battlefield. He can then check out on the positions of the enemies, and warn the team-mates on where to look out for and where enemies are hiding.

All in all it's a really fun campaign to do with some friends. When you manage to go through a wave with everyone surviving, the team feeling is really good. laugh.gif

Finally completed Insane Mode after seven days of trying. It's really tough. You'd really have to be "tactical" (thus this game is billed as a "tactical shooter"), take your time, and no Rambo-style if you want to survive. Two hits kill you, snipers can blast your head from five rooms away, and even small creatures like Tickers and Wretchers can kill you in no time. I'm just glad that my friend and I helped each other all the way to conquer this insanely Insane Mode.

During the process, we also found new ways to approach mission easier. Surviving boss fights, using sniper rifle for most of the game (really effective on Insane mode - the further you're from the enemies, the better for you!), etc. I can now blast through Casual Mode in a matter of hours with my new found expertise in this game. We just did a speed run yesterday for fun. laugh.gif

Did you stay after the credits to "listen" to the cliffhanger thing? It all but confirmed that Marcus may just be a half-locust; OR, a "final" version of Locust, which is human in form.. laugh.gif

Anyway, my disc went "unreadable disc error" last night. Cleaned a few times still couldn't play, very pissed. It reminded me of my horrid Fable II experience. Both games are published by Microsoft. Something's wrong with their discs!

Thankfully, this morning it was ok. I'm on 27,100 kills now and I can't imagine if I can't continue shooting for that elusive 100,000 kills.

Played Horde with US ang mohs yesterday. Terrible experience. Everyone wants to be hero. Everyone rushes in at the word go. We couldn't even last 4 waves. Die already blame you for not covering them. Yeah, thanks, I'm being swarmed as well while trying to revive you guys who're dead very quickly, damn you!

Ended up helping a Portuguese (my friend). He needed help with Wave 30-50, but at 8am in the morning, I couldn't find anyone else to help. 2P Horde for later waves is really impossible. Thankfully, some of my friends went online soon after we started, and I invited them in. So, my Portuguese friend is treated to a baptism of "KNN, CB, LJ, NNB, etc." from my friends (coz the Hordes are really tough and cheap). Good vocabulary to learn for a foreigner. laugh.gif

does this mean that the game is easy to complete on the single player mode?

Casual is "quite" easy. Insane is "very" insane.

haha, played horde using map "day one" with my buddy.
went up to stairs and there's a metal divider which allows us to camp there taking pot shots, managed to struggle to wave 20 before beaten by zzz monster... when left with one enemy, we did our ammo runs, haha

other maps kanna owned big time in wave 10 laugh.gif

You can pick up the boomshield inside the arcade and plant it on the stairways. This will stop the stupid ugly mofos from coming up. laugh.gif

Try the security map as well. You can activate an infra-red door, run inside before it comes up, and then hide inside forever while shooting the Hordes. They can never come in. You just have to periodically run out to re-activate the doors when their time limit is up.

MS/ Epic has released two new map packs over the past few months. One's the "Flashback" pack (five maps) that came free if you buy a new copy of the game, the other's a "Combustible" pack (three maps) that requires 800 MS points.

Now, accompanying achievements for these maps have also been released. Those who want to relive Horde action together on these new maps and earn some achievements at the same time can send me a PM. smile.gif

Hi all

I just rented GOW2

Played a few minutes and i can tell it is going to be a very good game

Im plan to start fresh tomolo

Just wondering

i have never play GOW before so should i start on casual or normal mode?

I have played all 3 Halo games

Will i be able to complete without frustration on 'normal' mode?
or should i start with 'casual' mode

Thanks and all tips is welcomed
super_convoy
Start on casual so that it's easier to find all the collectibles (use a guide, it saves you the frustration).

Then play on insane to unlock all the other difficulties achievements.

Insane on this game is very tough but managaeble with a bit of patience.

Unfortunately you're not on Live, or we could co-op a bit.
