how big is 1/15 scale ? the biggest scale for the cyclone is 1/8 , am I correct ?

So looking forward to this... 1/15 scale means roughly... 15cm tall? Assuming the rider is 180cm in height (that gives 12cm), and I give him a generous 3cm increase with his armour and helmet.

Megahouse's mospeada sure looks best out of the 3. but notice that there is now a seam line running along the legs!! it wasn't there during the last toy show.... and also, we don't see the little girl Mint with Rey (was in the exhibition previously).

i hope megahouse somehow remove that ugly seam line and include Mint with Rey....

bike looks small... and kinda awkward.

overall looks great! will be getting both. (preorders out yet?)

yup u remembered correctly. most people will agree that the blue haired officer (Stick Bernard) is the main role since the series started and ended with him, but there are alot of fans for Yellow (the cross-dressing singer) too. The red haired guy Rey also appeared in ep 1, and in fact in the ending credits for seiyuu (voice actor), Rey is the first in the list. I personally like Rey the most, although his piloting skill sucks (he didn't have professional training lol....), he is IMO by far the most interesting and funny guy and most importantly - he's the smartest of the group.

I find the neck a bit long and the arm joint looks odd like a ball attached to the body. Other then this, the rest is quite good.

How does this measure in size to the original? Definitely getting, hope the red one gets issued also.

So, which version to choose from? Megahouse, Toynami or Aoshima? I can see that Toynami/Aoshima will be very big, prehaps something like 12" Figure, but I think Megahouse Looks cooler in Battloid mode. The Toynami/Aoshima version looks abit kiddy especially the head and proportion.

But I haven't seen any pics regarding the Toynami/Aoshima Cyclone mode, and also the figures without their armor. The bike does look abit small but I guess they wanted the Battloid mode to look better so if they increase the bike size the proportion will be off, maybe like the Toynami ones. But the toynami/Aoshima definately will get a better packaging. Have you guys seen the packaging of Megahouse???

Lucky for your reminder, didnt know got different variants. I remember the one from 20 years ago was very big, too big. Hope to see more pics for comparison.

Why don't they release a Yellow Dancer figure + dance stage instead?

For the cyclones would be nice if we can totally remove the armors and suit them up with their normal clothes.

There are actually 4 bikes used by our protagonists - 2 of them look very similar (the 2 bikes shown in this thread that i'm getting soon ), 1 blue one (see post #27 tensiongraphix's cool li' pic), and 1 red one for the girl.

Yes, the title of the show is those 2 bikes. the only difference between the Stick and Rey versions are the forearms / front wheel plates (missiles or gun).


Near the end of the series, there is another black one used by the lady on espionage mission, is actually similar in design to the red one, except she's using a camera instead of the rocket launcher.


And yes i like the idea of removing the body armor - figures in plain clothes. however, i can also settle for pvc or gashapon of normal clothes with same scale

I think the blue bike is meant for the cross-dresser, Yellow his name right.

I hardly see Yellow Dancer/Lance wearing that bike suit, maybe it took me a year to reach the last 2 episodes that I forgot, he was always either armorless or in the fighter during the later parts of the show.

Yes, I also look forward for action figures with normal uniform. Only Matchbox did it in the 80s. Those are memorible. But I only bought the bad guys robots to match with the Japanese Legosis. Too bad I haven't got the chance to took photo of my Macross and Mospeada collection before selling them off. I only kept the Cyclones with me. One Japanes and one Taiwan version. I repainted the Taiwan piece to Rey color.

yes, the blue bike is used by Yellow (in robotech named yellow dancer/lance). BTW, i'm a fan of the original story not the robotech version...

actually, Yellow is quite frequently seen on his blue bike, and is very effective because the chest missiles are very powerful (no need to strike the eye to kill an invid).

near the middle - late part of the story, the group came upon a recent battlefield where quite a big group of resistance forces were wiped out by the invids. they savaged 2 more legioss (the green and red alphas) and 1 tread (beta). from then on, yellow is mostly seen either on the tread or green legioss. the last 2 episodes, iirc he's using the blue bike again.


Just for info, the male persona of Yellow is voiced by Hirotaka Suzuoki (鈴置 洋孝, passed away last year T_T). Some of his other roles are: Mobile Suit Gundam (Bright Noa), Captain Tsubasa (Kojiro Hyuga), Saint Seiya (Dragon Shiryu), etc.... I loved all these characters he played!

I actually got the Robotech DVDs from Aussie it was selling a box for AUS$9.99. There were 6 or 7 box for the whole 3 stories, includes rare Toy Commercial footages from the 80's.

Then I also downloaded the Mospeada since I can't find one. But I end up watching the Robotech because I liked it very much especially the Mospeada because of the Cyclone, and I never did finished the whole story. Something like picking up old shows I guess.

I have yet to finish the last 2 episodes and then there's the Robotech Masters I haven't touched it.

I wonder where Yellow got his blue Cyclones. Another side note, is the Cyclone Free Size??? It seems they always fit when they found one.

I wish they'd release a 12" Figure, full in Cloth and option to switch to Cyclones. Just 1 would be enough, just 1...

in Robotech story, the Robotech Masters part is the 2nd part right? Southern Cross?

as for size to fit, i only know theres female and male versions. The Bartley is made for females, while the rest are for male soldiers. i guess size made to fit the average guy.... ? =X

No idea where Yellow got his bike, maybe from his mission (the first attempt at recapturing Earth) 3 years ago. his type of bike - the blowsperior, was already in service then (Yellow and Jim the technician are survivors from the first recapture attempt). The Mospeada is cheaper and more suitable for mass-production introduced later in 2nd recapture attempt.

seems like instead of being able to wear the helmet, it is helmet exchangeable with head piece. and also maybe is not "fully transformable" (unlike the CMs version) but rather transform by removing / changing parts (not sure on this one)? no die-cast.

I saw a pic (scroll to the bottom, where the 3 weapons are) from the link you provided where he lifted the visor of his helmet..

I'm guessing either they have 2 swapable head, with the Helmet able to lift up the Visor, or they have a swapable hair, where you remove the hair and put in the helmet. But I'm guessing it's the swapable head.

I just saw CM Pro is releasing the same 2 Mospeada Cyclones too in Chogokin!!!

Anyone can tell what is the difference between the 2? Obviously Megahouse are more plastic while CM has more metal.

But what about the size, looks, accesories? It's slightly cheaper than the Megahouse surprisingly.

The Cm Pro line is smaller la, somewhere close to the size of the Mirco man series, (some what).

Honestly, I think the MegaHouse ver. is better for display, where else the CM Pro one is good to play with.

Which one looks more accurate to the original show? I saw both versions they look identical. They still look the same after they removed their armor. Still have some boots & chest armor there.

Only difference is I haven't seen any human head scupture for CM pro.

What about the accessories?

Lets compare again (anyone pls correct me if im wrong, or add to this list):

1. Megahouse version is slightly bigger.

2. CM's has 'some' die cast parts (probably the silver parts near the engine), while Megahouse don't seem to have any.

3. In spite of above, CM's ver looks more plasticky overall, perhaps due to color and less detail. Megahouse ver color and detail is better, IMO looks better overall.

4. CM's figure-to-bike proportion looks ok. Megahouse's bike looks too small for the figure.

5. CM's not yet seen any pictures of characters' faces, maybe can't even remove helmet or can't raise visor. Megahouse we have seen the characters with helmet visor raised, and also w/o the helmets.

6. CM's seem to be fully transformable. Megahouse may need to remove/swap parts. Not confirmed.

7. Megahouse Rey comes with bike storage boxes (and little accessory stuffs like drink bottles etc not sure if included?). So far Stick's don't show any storage boxes with his set. CM's both sets come with bike storage boxes.

8. CM's pictures show wrong character matched to the bikes.

should be:
Stick is supposed to wear red body suit, knee armor shows a bit of blue - matched to bike with name S.Bernard, shoulder number 21.
Rey (or Ley) is supposed to wear blue, knee armor shows red - matched to bike with name Ley, shoulder no number (according to anime) or at most a 31 (old Aoshima/ Imai model kit)

Well, maybe we can just swap the figure to match the correct bike (i.e. #21 match red body) but then if the face is visible, then we might have to swap the heads.

Unless CM realized their mistake and corrected it before release.
