Honestly, it was boring. It was close to 2 hours and it got draggy when the moment he met the princess.

The trailers were pretty misleading and I went into the show hoping for a film with action and substance. Something like Avatar maybe. But of course, no movie will be able to surpass that for maybe the next decade.

There was little development for all the characters and the love story of John and the princess was just sappy. I didn't even get their names right since there was a flood of names. There's John, Sola, Des Torrez?, Thurn, Thug?, Jeddak for king and I just can't recall any of the male actors' name not even the antagonist.

The Watchers could have been developed more cos I feel that could have been the plot driver.

Actually, this show makes you think alot to get the plot. Starting was quite confusing as it introduces so many aspects to the story: John Carter himself, the two warring kindgoms(?), the (alien?) Tharks tribe, and the Therns. Only towards the end then they start to link together.

Oh by the way, even though this is a Disney movie, I don't think it is suitable for kids.

Finally watched it today.... well...I'm disappointed. Most of the parts are quite boring...actually the premise of the story could be interesting... like Avatar+Dances with Wolves and maybe with a little "the last airbender"... but in many aspects the plot couldn't grip me...maybe I was too preoccupied trying to remember the names... or was it the princess's outfit that caused the distraction?!

well.. the film makers paid tribute to the late Steve Jobs in the end credits did get my attention though....
