My first Playmobil sets in a very long time, although these sets are for my girls. I recall Playmobil trying to get into the toy segment that was dominated by Lego back in the 80s and eventually fizzed out. It was still sold in speciality shops but largely forgotten.
So here's the first set in review! 4897 Christmas Market Lovely box art. The box design for Playmobil hardly changed. Still the same blue box and logo. ![]() Ensemble cast. There's 2 shopkeepers, 2 kid musicians and a couple. Playmobil figs are not cheap, so this set is really value as you get 6 figs. ![]() The Christmas Market scene. Very nice! ![]() Bakery stall ![]() Toy stall ![]() Overall, I'm astounded by the quality of the Playmobil. It's quality plastic, both rigid and plastic, all around. Everypart clicks securely in place and does not drop out. Classic german toy. -------------------- |

Review of 3rd (and final) set!
4154 - Advent Calendar Unicorn Princess By now you can tell that my girls are into a few things: Princesses, unicorns and PINK. I'm not sure which year is this supposed to be for, but it's a retired set. Playmobil's idea of an advent calendar, compared with Lego, is this: the figs and parts are all bagged. The boxes for the parts are flat packed and need to be assembled before putting the respective parts in. Sure it's quite troublesome, but it's an activity for the mum and dad I guess. Pics! ![]() Figs: 2 princesses, 1 little girl, 1 unicorn, 1 pony, 1 peacock with wings spread. ![]() The whole scene. ![]() There is supposed to be a cardboard cut-out background that comes with the set, but I did not set it up. It looks like this:

Scale compared to Lego minifigs:
![]() The figs are no where near the scale of any Lego vehicles. ![]()
