quite tempted to get a set to "try try". but my previous experience buying mega blocks says that the bricks has substandard quality. the feel of the build just isn't a very pleasant experience. at this point, i'll just stick to lego.

Agree that mega bloks bricks are a little 'rough the the edge', but I like their minifigures of convenants and spartans, that have joints to make them very flexible and posable. Understand also that sometimes the bricks do pop out, but guess just need time and patience to work with it. Only thing, our local retail only hold the bigger sets, not the battle / combat sets with the minifigures and weapons. [Oso a new Lego fan myself, after my incidental encounter with the minifigures series 3 that I chance upon in the display shelf in one of the retail store.] |

I was really tempted to get the Iron Man and War Machine single packs which was on clearance at OG Albert for a couple of bucks each..but somehow put them down and bought a small Lego set instead. So i guess that kinda sums it all for me really.
Anyways, i don't deny the MB Halo / IM line is really awesome looking, and i daresay the figures are kickass! And if Lego had the license, i'm very positive it will be a hit. But i guess for most, once you collect Lego, it's hard to turn to any alternative building sets really. Well, welcome to the poisonous Lego world, do keep a healthy fat wallet at all times. See you around with your purchases updates here. ps: bookmark brickset.com, to id and keep track of all sets from the 90s up to latest releases. -------------------- WTS: All Must Go Please... - LEGO, TF, MP, SW, JOE, MU, ML, DC, MM, DVD

Have scouted around the various toy retail, looking for the halo wars mega bloks mystery packs, besides the one shop in Nex. Cannot find any, not even those at China Square.
Anyway, cleared the final last 4 packs (series 2) from that shop. Just in case you wonder what they are all about, can see what's in those mystery packs here Cheers! |

I think my hope to build army with the halo mega bloks box sets, weapon packs and combat units packs and the minifigures may be over soon after all.
Besides not been able to hook up with fans of halo mega bloks (if there were any even in the first place, sensing from the response on this thread), I have come to know that the 2 retail outlets (one in Nex and the other in Great World City), which were selling the minifigure mystery packs, would not be bringing in the series 3 mystery packs, which collectors in US and UK have been waiting for its release with much anticipation. Even that particular large retail store, from which many of us get our Lego fix, especially during their regular 20% discount sale, is said to have returned its remain halo mega bloks stocks back to the distributor. These have been cleared from the shelves for one outlet in Orchard, the last time I checked. So that hope of having our local retail shops bringing in the battlescape (http://www.spartanbloks.com/96837-halo-battlescape/ is as good as zero. Really sad, isn't it? Does this spell the end of yet another product line from Mega bloks, after the Dragons Universe, Neo shifters, Battle strikers, etc.? Is this a case of a lack of interest from toy collectors or a lack of sufficient publicity and promotion by the distributors to create awareness and to generate interest? Well you decide.... |

I bought 1 box of smurf.... After i conclude it is my last purchase fr megablocks... Quality is just crap.... Can't comment on smurfs. Have not tried. Also have not experienced mega bloks bricks that were made in the past to be able to compare them with the current even though I've read ppl arw saying they have gotten better. Probably dont want to go in the direction of comparing Mega Bloks with Lego. No end to that. There are strong supporters in both camps. I happened to be interested in both. I just interested in the current Halo theme and the highly posable hero minifigures as given that the theme is only available in Mega Bloks and small enough to have good, imo, playability. Guess different ppl build army for different purpose - some for static display; some for active play; others use them to create animated motives, etc. Oh yes. Having said thus far, I still wud not mix my lego bricks with the mega blok bricks. I value them for what they are. Cheers |

Any recommendation of online shops to mail order Halo Wars construction sets? Based on what I've gotten around searching. No direct sales from megabloks.com; our local distributor appear to be 'passion' although didnt get response from them when I email them. Online: - toywitz.com; good collection but exorbitant price and high shipping costs; - amazon direct (free domestic shipping) or other sellers (high shipping costs) via tarazz - limited titles. Explored on prices but have not actually tried, except toywitz. Toywitz - problematic, CS always ask to call them back to verify this or that. And after trying to call them back unsuccessfully many times, orders get cancelled. That's why I've resorted to US ebay; think still cheaper but no deliveries yet. Will update once I got them. If you have lobang or other sources, do share. Cheers |
