The Dark Knight, Sequel to Batman Begins Options

The 62-year-old singer and actress (Cher) is reported to be in talks to play Catwoman opposite Christian Bale in the third Batman film from British director Christopher Nolan.

The Oscar-winner will join a cast that includes Johnny Depp as The Riddler as she plays the whip-carrying burglar. The character has also been played by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

A studio executive said: "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.

"The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Filming of the new Batman instalment, provisionally entitled The Caped Crusader, is due to begin in Vancouver early next year.

The Dark Knight, this summer's blockbuster, has become the most successful of the Batman movies. Warner Bros expects the film to make about $530m.

It stars the late Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after taking an accidental drugs overdose. His performance as The Joker is widely expected to garner an Oscar nomination.

Cher's recent acting performances have included Tea with Mussolini in 1999 and Stuck on You, in 2003 in which she played herself.

IMO, to let Johnny Depp in playing Riddler is the only way to surpass or at least equalise the outstanding performance of Heath Ledger from the batman movie.

Not that i mind Cher's acting, but she is simply too old (62 years old ??!).

IMO Johnny Depp makes a good Batman more than a bad a** vilian.
I wonder why Tim Burton never hire him to take over the role of Batman.

It will be a fresh change from the past catwoman we had seem on the big screen but Cher's appearance is on the older side. Anyway since she will most likely be at secondary villain role (Johnny Depp as The Riddler will surely take the main antgonist) it should not affect the overall of the movie by very much though fan of cat woman may not be please in this casting.

Of course, fans will not be pleased. I just hope this time round, this will be an evil Catwoman (Cher) so that the movie will not suck so badly. By the looks of the new poster, it does look hostile or psychotic evil.

i rem in the batman cartoon series, i alwaz tink the pengin looks like Robin williams.. funny n cunning at the same time.... since de vito's version is dark, mayb they can cast a funny penguin this time.... my ideal cast will be:-

Johnny Depp - Riddler (most likely confirmed)..
Robin Williams - Penguin
Angelina Jolie - Catwoman (no chance liao, thks to Cher)
Elisha Curhbert - Batman's new love interest!!!!!!!

Haha...That poster look damn convincing! I really thought it was Cher under the mask as it really look like her. Who made it? I really like to know how the creater did it too.

Well, let's just pray Cher gets drop out of the role somehow. Can you imagine Cher doing action scenes with all that silicone on and what if the mask of Catwoman distorted that nose and chin job ?
