2006 should see the return of 6" Batman & Superman figures to general retail with the launch of Mattel's new DC Superheroes line. Sculpted by the Four Horsemen these figures will be based on Batman and Superman characters, as they appeared in the comics, much like Mattel's previous comic-based Batman line. However this time around the figures will contain more articulation then ever before. Look for the first wave to be released sometime in January 2006.

Wave one is slated to include: Batman, Bane, Scarecrow & Killer Croc (with new head sculpt).

Wave two is slated to include: Superman, Bizarro, Doomsday & Supergirl (Kara In-Ze - white shirt version).

Wave three will be another bat-themed assortment and should include Azrael.

Click here for pics of some of the figures.

i think its a good move. After all it's high time they answered ML's in some way. Hopefully they learn the good things and not bad things. Would love to see them do better than DC direct figures.

I hope they'll do more characters rather than limiting to just Batman-Superman related ones, maybe something like the JLU ones. drool.gif

jumping on the bandwagon of the popularity of Marvel Legends...
DC still riding on the coat-tails of Marvel in terms of toys and movies...

ok lah i will try to..stop..grumbling about DC Direct & stop being a naysayer, i think the pics look good unfortunately dunno who we're gonna be stuck with...at retail...

it's always good to see a good Supergirl and Azrael, hopefully they will expandinto more obscure characters like what Ml have done, of course with the perrenial popular characters to get that minimum threshold of breaking even, u can bet that there'll be whole lotta Batmen & Supermen, but hopefully they'll temper that with say, Ragman, Adam Strange,

the problem with DC's head toy honcho, we dunno who they are, are they in the know like Toybiz's Jesse Falcon (X-23 who is a new hot character is scheduled to get plastic treatment) Will we get to see recent additions and changes that will follow DC's Infinite Crisis stories, will we see Catman, Chesire, Deadshot, Deathstroke? How about Harbinger? i know they've being released in DC Direct now but would we see thembeing available at mass market, let's hope that Mattel's marketting is in the know about comics and movies and the industry...then maybe they'll give Toybiz & Marvel a run for their money...

although i'm hoping not then i'll have start buying them oh no duh.gif
if they could produce scultping quality in line with the recent Jim Lee & Alex Ross lines i'll be happy
